THE JUDOKAN JUDO CLUB
The Judokan was founded by Mike Job and Lorraine Bailey (both 7th dan Black Belts and former South African Champions). It is one of Cape Town’s oldest and best equipped judo clubs. We provide martial arts classes for all ages. All skill and ability levels are welcome! We are conveniently located on Anzio Road, Observatory. Our dojo features two full size mats, sprung floors, and numerous crash mats.
Judo is a Japanese martial art, olympic sport, and respected form of self defence. It is a physically demanding martial art that allows you to develop strength, fitness and confidence. Similar to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, techniques include throws, armlocks, strangles, and hold downs. For more info watch the video below or read more here.
The Judokan’s experienced coaching team consists of IJF and JSA accredited coaches, senior dan grading masters, and seasoned competitors. We provide coaching from beginner through to black belt level. We have a high instructor to student ratio and a regular grading schedule. This ensures rapid progression through the ranks.
